Despite Clearing My History, Items are Still in my Location Bar

I set my location bar to only display History, and yet when I tried clearing all the history and the cache, I still see items in my drop down menu, except these are websites I visited over a week ago, even though Firefox is set to remember only the last four days. I then downloaded CCCleaner, which supposedly deleted everything, and yet I'm still getting old sites in the location bar. I'm not sure what else I can do.
