Typically, firefox will ask me first if I want to download a file before downloading it.

Earlier, I had downloaded a pdf (myfile.pdf). Later in the day, I realised the file got redownloaded automatically as myfile(1).pdf, myfile(1)(1).pdf, myfile(1)(1)(1).pdf and so on everytime I restarted firefox. However, I did not click on anything to approve the downloads or even open the download tab (apart from the first time); and in fact I'm fairly sure I had closed the download tab after the first time. Any possible reason why this happened?

(Interestingly, when I tried to replicate the issue by redownloading the file on my own, it gets saved as file(2).pdf instead.)

Hi

So that I can try to replicate what you are seeing, what is the file and where are you downloading it from?
