After the latest update, when I try to print emails (Windows 11), I only get a few lines...then, NOTHING else. I'm having to resort to Windows snipping tool (which is awful) to get emails printed.

First thing to try is to clear saved print settings (Help/Troubleshooting Info, bottom of tab), restart TB, do a test print. If that doesn't help, try View/Message Body As, Simple HTML (press Alt if Menu Bar with View is hidden), test print.

Nope. Neither one helped at all. I found that if there's an emoji in the email, everything from that point onward is discarded at time of print.

As a workaround, you could save in html format (Ctrl+S, save as type), open in browser, and see if it prints completely.

Such a hassle, for what used to be extremely simple. Just using the Windows Snipping Tool is easier, but you have to do multiples for each page. Hopefully Mozilla recognizes this as a major issue to be resolved.....

You could submit a report to Bugzilla, including a link to this topic, that explains printing errors with messages containing emojis.

Another way might be to print to MS Print to PDF, then print from your pdf app.

31ST October I wrote the following on another thread as I couldnt find a thread that worked for me:

Hello all,

After the debacle with the 'READ' button since the last update a few weeks ago, I fear I have another conundrum with the update!

Is anyone else have issues with printing emails that have emoji's on them?

The message header gets printed, then the subject, then all the information up to the point where the emoji is, then nothing! Sometimes the outline of a cell if a graph has been used, but none of the information contained in that cell. No graphics, no signature, nothing.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I have to forward the email and remove the emoji then print and its fine.

Thanks for taking the time to look and hopefully come up with some suggestions for me.

Why has it been tinkered with? AND Can you put it back to how it was?

Its costing me a fortune in paper that has to be thrown away because there is hardly any information on it.

sfhowes, none of your solutions worked, EXCEPT the arduous "save in html format (Ctrl+S, save as type), open in browser, and see if it prints completely.". That DID work, saving it as html, then having to go find it, reopen it, and then print it again. With 550 tax clients, and two months, this is a LOSING proposition. Are there any other workarounds of which you're aware? 8-(

By the way, Print to PDF (or Microsoft Print to PDF) does NOT work either, at least for me. As soon as the Print to PDF hits the Emoji, all disappears, except for that line down the left side of the original message to which there's the response, but no content, only that vertical line on the left.

This is a known bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1864423 with a different workaround mentioned in comment 3.

I have to open outlook and print from there and then go back to thunderbird to tag. Very frustrating, but now I know it's an emoji thing, I'll just print those that way.
