Is there any way to enable dns over https in Firefox focus (like in about:settings for vanilla Firefox)? Is this an upcoming feature?

Hi

There is no way at present to enable this in Firefox Focus for Android, but I can help you to enable this in Firefox For Android:

(This is a more complex way of doing things, please be careful when following this guide.)

  • In the address bar of Firefox for Android type about:config
  • Search for network.trr
  • Change network.trr.bootstrapAddress to 1.1.1.1
  • Change network.trr.mode to 2 (this will try DNS over HTTPS, and if it fails for a site, it will use normal DNS) or 3 (which will force DNS over HTTPS regardless, but some sites may fail)

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the response, @Seburo. I've already modified my Firefox mobile as you suggested and it works well.

It's not totally clear to me how Firefox Focus differs from Firefox mobile with tracker blocking extensions and clear history on quit. Which is why I keep using Firefox Focus and the ease of having it start fresh each time it's reopened. It would be great to see dns over https added to Firefox Focus soon.

Since your answer that it's not possible was so definitive, I'll close this issue as Solved.
