In the middle of the day TB stopped getting emails from gmail and displays a dialog box containing this message (Please enter the master password for the Software Security Device.) when I click on a message. It won't accept the google password. I have never - to my knowledge - used the TB password system and if I ever set up the "Master Password" it's long gone. Why would it just suddenly quit when its been running really well for months?

All is well - I "remembered" the master password. But the password displayed for google looks nothing like it really is. Is it a hash? If it is, what might be the purpose in displaying it be?

Google uses oAuth2.0. What is displayed is the auto generated token oath2.0 is using as a password.

It is the master password. You set it, now it wants it to access your stored passwords.
