Hi bobmusante, how do you usually view your email?
Some users create a bookmark on the Bookmarks Toolbar, so that's one click. If you're new to Firefox bookmarks, see: Bookmarks in Firefox.
Other users make their mailbox their home page, so that's zero clicks. However, your home page loads into every new window you open (I mean separate window, not a tab in the same window), so that's not always the best choice. More info on setting your home page: How to set the home page.

Firefox is a browser and not a email program. You would need to find something like Thunderbird or Seamonkey with built in email and configure to bring down your email.
