My add-ons suddenly disappeared. How do I get them back?

more options

I was using Firefox earlier today and when I came back to use it tonight, all my add-ons were gone. I don't know how to get them back and I don't remember which ones I had installed because I had quite a few. My plug-ins and personas and bookmarks are still here but where did my addons go and how can I retrieve them and their data?

I think I restored a majority of them back now. I was only truly worried about one addon's data but I found it while searching through the Firefox folder somewhere. Thank you so much for your help!

I think that Firefox created a second user profile.

Try switching to the original profile by running the Profile Manager.

More details can be found here.

NOTE: Do not delete any profiles.

I tried what the page says and it says I only have one profile, "default." I clicked on that and everything is the same. My add-ons are still gone yet everything else is in tact :(

more options

Try the following:

  1. Open the Run menu from the Windows Start Menu
  2. Open %appdata%
  3. Open Mozilla
  4. Open Firefox
  5. Open Profiles
  6. Open the folder inside of the Profiles folder
  7. Open Extensions

From this folder you can find the files for your installed extensions.
The XPI files will be named after the extension.

Ex.
tabscope@xuldev.org.xpi = Tab Scope add-on

You can use the names of these files to find your extensions.

Since this is an inconvenience, you can upload a screenshot of this folder and I will post the names and links for you.

More information on posting a screenshot can be found here.
