How do I opt out of this Firefox and return to previous version? I'll do it at later date.

This version of Firefox looks great but am short on time to learn new tasks currently. Child in hospital. Would like to return to previous version with which I am familiar, and update at later date when I am free to concentrate on this excellent program. I had no idea of the work involved when I clicked on 'update to...etc' and realized immediately that I had made a mistake as soon as I saw the home page. How do I delete this version and return to previous one? Thanks, S.L. Yadon

On the one hand, it doesn't take long to customize the UI to match the appearance of Firefox 3.

On the other hand, it doesn't take that long to revert to Firefox 3.6, either. Here's the process to roll back:

First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Backing up your information. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older

Close Firefox 4.

You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.

Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.

Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!

Thanks so much for your instructions/suggestions. Did as you said and am back to old familiar version. I'll get up to speed w/the modern age later. I had the good sense not to install any add-ons for the brief time I was on Firefox 4. I'll be more thoughtful before clicking on anything in the future.
