Hello! I noticed FireFox Android now reports my real OS version but FireFox Android has auto spoofed the useragent OS version from version 122? The install was via apk through Aurora app store if that makes any difference. I would like to fix this if its an error, if the spoof has been disabled then it will obviously remain. Thanks in advance!

Hi

I recommend that you use an official copy of Firefox for Android available from the Google Play store.

Firefox for Android now protects your privacy by spoofing your Android version to Android 10.

@Paul thanks for the reply but I'm more interested in keeping privacy so don't want to lock my device to a Google account just so I can use 1 app. If the apk signature matches the official release then does it make any difference? Do you think reinstalling might maybe fix it? Thanks again

Update: I reinstalled from what I believe to be an official source of apk https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/firefox-android

Doing so didn't fix the issue but did cause me to lose all my bookmarks since you don't allow people to export/import bookmark folders unlike Brave.

I have now installed a privacy and security hardened fork of Firefox called Mull, doing so has provided a browser which now correctly spoofs to Android 10 and has other features developed by Tor Project but it is slightly slower and less smooth, I think the benefits outweigh that so I'll stick with it and uninstall regular Firefox since it doesn't work properly for reasons unknown.

Its not a device issue otherwise Mull would fail to spoof also.

Mull Browser can be found here for anybody reading this question with similar issues. https://f-droid.org/packages/us.spotco.fennec_dos/

It would be useful if Mozilla published apk files so people have the option of avoiding stores.

They do as how else did that third-party store you got the Firefox apk from would have apk Firefox files.

Firefox for Android 123.1.0 https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/fenix/releases/123.1.0/android/
