Back in the day, I used to used 'boolean'(?) operators to refine web searches. E.g. if I want to search for "blue whale" and didn't want any ebay returns, I'd type: blue whale -ebay That doesn't seem to work now, is there another method I could use?

Is this about searching via the Firefox location/address bar or about searching via the Google website ? Both seem to be working for me.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the Default System theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

I suggest looking at the operator you use for searches. The one I use says its syntax "isn't working perfectly".
