Hi,

On what port does the firefox extension update on does it use port 21? I need the extensions to be auto updating like set and forget knowing that my firewall is not blocking the required port

Thanks

To check whether an update of an extension is available, Firefox connects to the website set in the the extensions.update.url and extensions.update.background.url prefs (https://versioncheck.addons.mozilla.org and https://versioncheck-bg.addons.mozilla.org). If there is an update available then the update.xml file contains a link to the current version of the extension This is a normal secure connection and I would assume port 443 is used.

By default Addon auto updates as mine has it checked to "Autoupdates automatically" is your not doing this or something? If you changed the configuration from default maybe your settings changed this. For Windows I looked at my extension manager and checked setting and it's AutoUpdate.

The OP was not asking about Extension auto updates or such but what port or connections are made to check for extension updates.
