Problems with new FF installation.

Hi, FF Community Forum - I installed a fresh copy of FF. Big problem; when I click on a link, nothing happens. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I am desperate, and after spending many hours troubleshooting and reviewing past articles, I am at my wit's end. I will try any reasonable suggestion, bar throwing this infernal torture device, out the window. But then again .... Seriously, I need help, and a vial of aspirin. Thanx for reading my tale of woe. Again, all ideas will be attempted. Best regards, Nick M.

Hi Nick M,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing problems with your new Firefox installation. I understand how frustrating it can be when things don't work as expected. Don't worry, we're here to help!

Based on your description, it seems that when you click on a link, nothing happens. This issue can have several potential causes, but let's start with some basic troubleshooting steps:

Clear your browser cache: Go to the Firefox menu, select "Options," then "Privacy & Security." Scroll down to the "Cookies and Site Data" section and click on "Clear Data." Make sure to select both "Cookies and Site Data" and "Cached Web Content" and click "Clear."

Disable extensions: Sometimes, extensions can interfere with the normal functioning of the browser. Try disabling all extensions temporarily and see if the issue persists. If the problem is resolved, you can enable the extensions one by one to identify the culprit.

Create a new Firefox profile: A corrupted profile can cause various issues. You can create a new profile and see if the problem still occurs. To create a new profile, open the Run dialog (Windows Key + R), type in "firefox.exe -P" (without quotes), and press Enter. Click on "Create Profile" and follow the prompts to set up a new profile.

Check for software conflicts: Sometimes, other software installed on your computer can interfere with Firefox. Try running Firefox in Safe Mode, which disables all extensions and uses default settings. If the issue doesn't occur in Safe Mode, it indicates a conflict with some other software.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, please provide some additional information, such as the specific version of Windows you're using and any error messages you encounter. This will help us further troubleshoot the problem and provide more specific assistance.

Thank you for reaching out to the Firefox Support Forum. We'll do our best to help you get your Firefox installation working properly again.
