Changing hotmail settings after setting up Thunderbird to send & receive hotmail .....

I've successfully set up Thunderbird to send and receive hotmail.com.au emails from my laptop, BUT hotmail also SAVES the sent messages sent from the laptop to the hotmail online folder. This means I have to go in and do "housekeeping" all the time, to empty the "Sent" and "Deleted" folders in the online Hotmail account.ll

Is there any way of changing hotmail so that it doesn't save these messages that are sent from my laptop? After all, they are being saved on my computer anyway, in my Thunderbird "sent" box .... I don't need Hotmail online to keep it too!

Thanks  :-)

You can not stop the people at Microsoft, they know what we needs much better than we do!. All you can do it tell Thunderbird not to save copies.

Right click the account in the folder pane, select settings and in copies and folders set Thunderbird not to keeps a copy of sent mail.

Thanks Matt .... but I don't and shouldn't need to do this. I want my computer's Thunderbird to do everything.

I've arranged another hotmail account (*) to NOT save ANY messages I've posted from my laptop. So, basically, I don't need to login to the hotmail website at all. All I do is download the messages and send emails, both on/from my computer. I only login to hotmail online once a week just to check and empty the 'spam' folder.

(*) this is a plain ol' hotmail.com email and was setup that way about 15 years ago (ie. not hotmail.com.au) Obviously I don't remember how I did it back then!
