Just out of the blue, I can no longer send an image by using "Insert > image". All I get is a blank rectangle, same dimensions as my image.

I've tried everything. Add-ons disabled, no anti-virus, check/uncheck "attach this image to the message" and every option with sending in html, plaintext etc.

I can *attach* an image and it works fine but I *cannot insert* it inline. One detail: when I get the blank rectangle instead of my image in the body of the email and I double-click on that rectangle, the path of the image has changed and gotten converted to Base64.

Is that normal?

Here's the beginning of the line: data:image/jpeg;filename=DSC_0083.jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgAB

Edit: Also, when I try to send that email with my blank rectangle instead of the image, an error message says " There was an error attching myphoto.jpg. Please check that you have access to the file.

I haven't found a solution yet. But there is an interesting development for those interested: I have created an entirely new profile and I have no problem at all with inline images anymore. Very strange. I guess something got corrupted in the original profile, although I had removed every single add-on.

I have got the same problem, too. For my case, when I forward an email with images inside, after clicking on the Forward button ( not completely forwarding out yet), the images there won't show off immediately unless I double clicked on it (Like you do). I don't know how to fix it though.

Problem: Thunderbird works fine at the office (can paste or insert images inline) but doesn't work at home. Took Frolic's advice and created a new profile; it worked perfectly! My question is: given that I now have working and non-working profile folders on the same installation, what can I do to identify the corrupted setting or file?
