Server <me>@lycos.com has disconnected < Lycos mail does not work with Thunderbird. Possibly I need to change one or more settings in Thunderbird to make it work, but which one(s)? And how? Gmail works o.k. but now and then it takes Thunderbird forever to copy a mail that I just sent to Sent mails folder, and often then I get a message that it failed. How can I fix this?

<me>@lycos.com looks like an email address. Thunderbird needs a server name to connect.

Check with your email provider about the correct server settings, and then apply them to your account configuration.

The full error msg is: "Server <myname>@lycos.com has disconnected. The server may have gone down or there may be a network problem." In server settings I have "imap.lycos.com" port 143.

Please post your Troubleshooting Information. At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help > Troubleshooting Information. Press the "Copy text to clipboard button" and paste the information into your reply.

Also, please post the server settings as per your email provider's instructions. Presumably they do have a support web site, so please post a link.
