There are multiple times where Firefox flat out refuses to play any sort of video/media content - YouTube, Vine, Twitter videos, Facebook videos, GIFs/GIFVs, etc.. For example, in the case of YouTube, it will stay at the loading-circle. It doesn't matter whether or not my Firefox is up to date; This has happened throughout multiple versions including the latest one (it has been an issue since at least mid-30s version number) across multiple platforms (Windows 7, OS X El Capitan), and will stay this way for up to hours at a time. The only way I've been able to solve it is by closing and re-opening Firefox altogether, but I feel I shouldn't have to do this; because I can be browsing YouTube with no problem at all, only to have videos stop working (sometimes in the middle of watching them). This isn't an issue with my internet connection either, as I can load the same URL in another browser and it will play it fine (as well as every other URL will load as normal too).

It is possible that security software (anti-virus, firewall) is causing problems. Try to disable security software temporarily to see if that makes a difference.

Considering this occurs on both Windows 7 and Mac OS X (El Capitan), I don't think it's an anti-virus issue.

I've managed to fine-tune as to what might be causing it; it seems to do it whenever I reload/refresh Facebook in another tab. It doesn't do it every single time, but it seems to be the only thing that's doing it.
