I've synced Thunderbird, via putting the profile folder on Dropbox, between my two computers. However, when I move emails to folders (or tag them), it doesn't show up on the other computer's Thunderbird. The two computers are never on at the same time: that is, only one instance of Thunderbird is ever open. How can I sync so that what I do on one will show up exactly on the other?

given Thunderbird is not designed to run with it's profile on the internet, I would consider the program actually running at all to be a positive.

Thanks for that, but it doesn't answer my question.

Apparently I have been not direct enough in my answers recently.

Use of Thunderbird with a networked profile is not supported. So to answer your question revert Thunderbird to a supported configuration and use IMAP mail accounts to synchronize your tags etc.
