A couple of days ago Firefox stopped working on my computer (would not open). I am running Windows 7 but not sure what version of Firefox I was running. I did a restart and the problem continued so after reading multiple articles and trying various solutions I choose to reinstall Firefox (version 25.0.1). After reinstalling Firefox it works perfectly until I do a reboot on the computer, once the computer has rebooted I again can no longer open Firefox.

Please help!

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I tried turning off Windows Firewall and that didn't solve the problem. The antivirus software that I use is F-Protect and best I can tell there are no rules regarding Firefox. Other ideas?

Just checking to see if anyone has had a chance to review my problem that I posted yesterday? Would like to solve this issue before the weekend if at all possible. Thank you in advance!

When you checked the firewall, did it show ALLOW? If it says auto, that does not mean the connection is allowed. Please check again.

Yes, Firefox is checked as an allowed program in Windows Firewall. Other ideas? If you'll recall Firefox works perfectly when I first do the install, its when I shut down the computer and reboot that Firefox will not open.

See if you can disable AVG SafeGuard. Some have reported problems with AVG softtware. BTW, have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode?
