Will Firefox Bookmarks carry over through a USB?

more options

I was thinking on getting a new laptop & transferring all my data from my old one to a new one. Now usually, a windows laptop will come with internet explorer as its only browser, there's no others. But if i transfer my Firefox from my old laptop through a USB to a new laptop instead of downloading it on the new one, will my Bookmarks carry over? I have dozens of them on my current laptop & I don't want to spend an hour rebookmarking them on a new one.

Hello,

yes you can transfer your bookmarks. Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks article will help you to do that.

Thank you

I suggest installing normally first so that Firefox can properly set up its folder and registry entries. Then you can migrate your old data.

You can get the "full" installer from: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

And then to transfer your bookmarks you can use either the HTML format (see earlier reply) or the JSON format. If you tag your bookmarks, use the JSON format because it will preserve those.

More info on the JSON backup/restore process: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer.
