I recently purchased a new computer. I installed Mozilla when I got on-line. I will have to open my previous version to get all of my bookmarks. But I had weather, mail, hockey and football on my toolbar and I am not sure how to add them to this new version of Mozilla.

Is your Bookmarks Toolbar displayed? You can turn toolbars on and off using either:

  • right-click a blank area of the tab bar
  • right-click the new tab ("+") button on the tab bar
  • View menu > Toolbars

With your Bookmarks Toolbar is displayed, you can draft the padlock or globe icon to the left of the address to the bar and drop it where you want the bookmark.

Even if the Bookmarks Toolbar is temporarily not displayed, you can double-click the star icon in the address bar and change the Folder to Bookmarks Toolbar.

Does that help?

Please note that if you restore a bookmark backup from your old computer to your new Firefox, any bookmarks you have added in your new Firefox will be removed and replaced with the old bookmarks. If you need to save those new bookmarks, then there is a four step dance:

(1) Export your newly created bookmarks to an HTML file. See: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks

(2) Restore your backup from your other computer. See: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer

(3) Import the HTML fie you created in Step #1. See: Import Bookmarks from an HTML file

(4) Reorganize and de-duplicate in the Library dialog (Ctrl+Shift+b)

If you imported an HTML backup the it is possible that a new Bookmarks Toolbar folder got created in the Bookmarks Menu folder, so you can try a search in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) or the Bookmarks sidebar.
Note that you can only search for bookmarks and not for folders.
