Firefox 3.6.8. breaks back function in windows xp with all upgrades and service packs service packs. What is the solution immediately and long term or until FF issues the fix in another upgrade.

You cannot use Firefox for any of Windows Updates. You can only use IE, no other choice. Microsoft is the one who makes the rule, not Mozilla.
