TB won't set up on Yahoo mail. Spent about 3 hours on the phone with one and sometimes two Yahoo techs and giving them total access to my computer so they could set up TB but could not get it working. It was eventually suggested I contact you folks, so here I am. When sending an email, it just keeps running like it's sending but doesn't stop. Eventually displays the following:

Sending of the message failed. Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.mail.yahoo.com. Please check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'.

The techs and I went around an endless loop of re-entering PW and checking authentication settings. Any suggestions?

Chosen solution

Just made your suggested alteration to the authentication and it seems to have worked. After making the change, a message from Yahoo was received asking for verification on the use of a third party email client to access each of my accounts, of which there are three.

I don't know if this relates to your issue, but I'll share anyway: Yahoo requires a different password when using an email client and requires OAUTH2 authentication. This URL may assist: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN15241.html

Thank You, David. I'll look into that and make necessary changes to the TB settings and such and will post the result here.

Sorta' makes you wonder about the Yahoo techs... who should know that. BUT, that's irrelevant. I'm glad it's working.
