My inbox appears to be locked out with an envelope and lock icon how can I unlock it so that it displays current messages

My toolbar has a different display and the inbox is not displayed . I have been able to compose and send a test message to another of my email addresses. It could be connected to having sent 4/5 similar emails one after the other yesterday

The lock icon does not mean it is locked. It means you are using secure connection.

Click on the > icon shown to the left of the mail account name folder. It should display your list of folders in that mail account.
