I received and was reading a message from a sender prior to filter activation. After filtering and after I was starting to read it, the message disappeared. I then did a search messages function to find this message, but it was not found. Rather two previous messages from this same sender was found, but not the original message that I was reading.

Can anyone explain this?

mail in spam and trash folders are not indexed so would not appear in a search.

Thanks for replying and for providing very useful info! But, upon checking the JUNK folder, I didn't find the message there either. Admittedly, I only checked the messages from 7/18(yesterday). BTW, the TRASH folder is still empty
