Firefox occasionally makes imgur gifs and reddit text look corrupted/unwatchable + unreadable

After switching from chrome to Firefox 57, Imgur gifs occasionally get messed up and unwatchable, but still play. (attached is a screenshot of one gif that got screwed up). Recently, whenever this problem with the gifs happened, it would also somehow corrupt text on reddit, with multiple individual letters having part or all of the letter replaced with horizontal lines, and it would not go away until I closed the page and cleared the cache.

This happens even with all add-ons disabled, and does not happen on chrome. As far as I can tell, it only happens with gifs loaded from Imgur (either embedded/linked in a reddit post, or on imgur.com itself) and text on reddit. I am currently on firefox 57.0.4 64-bit.

Apparently the attached image never uploaded. Here it is. It's supposed to be a young girl holding a handgun, aimed towards the left side of the screen. All the green stuff is the problem, it's the classic gif-screws-up-as-it-plays-and-continues-playing-even-though-the-colors-are-so-screwed-up-you-cant-actually-tell-whats-happening

These animated GIF images are probably MP4 files that are played with an HTML5 media player.

Do you otherwise have a problem with playing media files?

Nope, absolutely no problems that i've noticed with any media files of any type, anywhere other than Reddit or Imgur
