Hi, It was not a firefox update, since I am using firefox from downloaded tar file, but the package firefox-locale-* is installed from the repo.

Only after updating this firefox-locale package the master password was gone! and saved passwords could be accessed.

This is simply not acceptable and is a pretty high security risk.

Please check into it and inform others who may or may not have noticed it.

If you are using Firefox from a Linux repo is may differ from what Mozilla releases. IOW, it is a specialized version that is created from Mozilla Firefox source code and does differ from the Mozilla "tar balls".

Best bet is to contact support for that Linux distro.

Mozilla does not build the Firefox and firefox-locale packages you installed as they were from Ubuntu. Perhaps post on https://ubuntuforums.org/ for assistance.

The only Firefox Releases for Linux that Mozilla makes is www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
