Whilst moving files from one folder to another the receiving folder and all files disapeared, and I cannot locate a copy

more options

I was moving some important files to a folder when I received and incoming message, the next thing I noticed was the files I was moving and the folder I was moving them to disappeared. I looked in all the other folders but could not find them. I viewed my profile and located the inbox folder 'Inbox.sbd, but the folder was not there, I copied and a back up of these folders over but I have lost some very important messages. This folder that I have lost is only to store messages until I have had a reply.

Is there some way of getting them back or is it as I believe lost.

Why would this happen?

I don't know what happened to your messages, see if this article helps. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Disappearing_mail

When moving messages to a new folder, copy them to the destination instead of moving. Only once they have been copied successfully to the destination folder delete them in the source folder. When copying, select the messages to be copied - right-click - Copy To. Don't use drag and drop. If you want to copy a large number of messages, do that in batches, not all at once.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I've tried all of those points, the folder and files have gone and cannot find them anywhere.
