The hard drive in my computer stopped working. I have a backup program that backed up all the files. How do I import my email addresses and emails from the backup files?

Thank you,

Steve

You need the profile from your old hard disk, or hopefully from the backup file set.

See the part about restoring to a different location. Essentially, run Thunderbird on the new computer and it will create a new empty profile. Overwrite the old profile onto the new empty one. Do this in your file manager (e.g. Windows Explorer) with Thunderbird shut down.

Thank you, Zenos. Yes, I've already found this response. I should have added that I already have several weeks of emails on my new hard drive, so my current profile is not empty. If I import a profile, it will overwrite all my current emails, etc.!

Is there a way of importing them into a separate folder, then moving them to the correct new folders?
