Since Firefox automatically updated to V. 30, it constantly crashes several times a day, every day. There's no reason for it. Nothing has changed on my end. Please get the bugs out of your browser updates before releasing them!

You can troubleshoot & it may eventually lead to a solution, but creating new profile and / or clean reinstalling Fx is usually much faster.

1) Start Fx in safe mode to rule out addons, plugins as the problem. When starting in safe mode, DON'T choose "permanently disable addons & plugins," or such.

Find all KB articles for topics here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Category:Firefox

2) If have done # 1 & still a problem, BACK UP your existing profile, then create a new profile (don't delete the old one).

After new profile is created, while still in profile mgr, start Fx w/ the new profile - in regular mode. See if the perfectly clean profile fixes it.

3) If still a prob., reinstall a fresh / good copy of a Fx 30 download. Shut down all applications on the machine, including any AV / FW programs. Terminate your connection to internet (just unplug router phone / digital cord, or cable from router, if don't know how in your OS -network settings.

If using Windows, uninstall Fx thru Control Panel. Don't just delete the program files, as one Mozillazine KB suggests. That's not uninstalling. Then delete any remaining files in Fx program files installation folder.

Then reboot computer.

4) You can try the old profile w/ fresh Fx -to see, but if it's still a prob, use the new, clean profile.

Unless you've got a hardware, OS or malware problem, that should fix it.

the ed-meister:

Here's a screenshot of the 5 most recent BPs that you requested. Didn't know how to remove the non-BP entry between #4 and #5. Thanks.

That looks like a problem with the Shockwave Flash plugin.

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:

See also:

Note that your System Details List shows multiple Flash plugins.

  1. Shockwave Flash 14.0 r0
  2. Shockwave Flash 13.0 r0

You can find the installation path of all plugins on the about:plugins page.

You can check the Flash player installation folder for multiple Flash player plugins and remove older version(s) of the plugin (NPSWF32) and possibly (re)install the latest Flash player.

Cor-el, yesterday I deleted the older version of Shockwave Flash (13.0 r 0) but Firefox is still crashing. The latest crash was just now. There's something going on with Firefox 30.0 because I didn't have this problem until Version 30.0 came out. It has nothing to do with my computer (Windows 8). It's annoying also how the Firefox crash dialog box offers to let me know when the problem is resolved (I provided my email address by default each time), but I never hear back from Mozilla.

Also, 8 other people (so far) are having the same problem. I suspect many others also who haven't taken the time to go to Mozilla's forums about it.

jakfak, Do you have an objection to trying my steps? They may seem formidable, but they're really straight forward. Quite often, going the troubleshooting route takes much longer than just starting fresh. Plus, a lot more irritating, plus troubleshooting often doesn't yield an actual, fixable cause.

You could already have been done in less than 30 min.

With the last Firefox upgrade, some plugins are no longer enabled until you enable it.

Open the Add-ons Manager. Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;

Windows; Tools Linux; Edit Mac; application name

Then Add-ons.

Hot key; <Control> (Mac: <Command>) <Shift> A)

On the left side of the page, select Plugins.

BTW; At the top right is a link to check your plugins.

Aside from trying Safe Mode, which disables all addons & plugins, you mentioned:

"I deleted the older version of Shockwave Flash (13.0 r 0) but Firefox is still crashing."

You "deleted" it, or "uninstalled" it? Two different things & sometimes makes a difference.

If you've tried the other steps - let us know if they did / didn't help. If you solved it, let others know how (or select a reply as the solution), so others may benefit.

I had the same problem, and Firefox kept crashing so constantly that, I couldn't even open the Crash reports without having them crash Firefox or change the state to not responding.

For now, I have installed Firefox in a new location with a new profile, and it seems to work for now.

Would like to know, what causes these crashes so they can be fixed.
