When I open Firefox, a new tab also automatically opens.
How do I make it stop? I saw a suggestion to replace all pipes in my homepage address to the escape code, but there are no pipes in my homepage address. Please help! Thank you!

the tubedimmer & social privacy addons that you have installed are adware and might be involved in this problem on your pc.
please go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove these extensions.
also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there.
finally, run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.

You can also check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure that nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.
Well, I've done what you both recommended, but still no change. Each time I open Firefox (which opens to my homepage), a new tab automatically opens. It is always the same tab...it takes me to the yahoo home page. I do not have THAT page set as my home page, but I do have my mail through yahoo. Thank you both!
You might try removing/disabling your Yahoo Application State Plugin. Google for information and comments.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
