The names of plugin and extensions sometimes are unclear or misleading. Try disabling ALL nonessential, recently added, and unrecognized extensions on the following tab. If in doubt, disable.

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

After restarting Firefox, do you notice any improvement?

If this is systemwide, you may need to remove unwanted software using the Windows Control Panel.

If you think it's spyware or malware, try some supplemental scanners. These three tools are highly regarded (and free):

I do not have the mediabar anywhere that I can find. I did not have any of the registries listed in the article. Mediabar was not found in the cmd. The only thing I have read that I have not done/tried was the about and tools in firefox. I can't seem to find access to that? I also used all of the programs, but nothing was found. My explorer does not go to bearshare, only firefox.

How do I change settings on firefox? I think that must be the only thing left to do.

I found the tools tab (alt T) and was able to change the opening page. Hoping I am finally rid of bearshare. Appears to have worked. Thank you.
