My PC gets hanged when I open firefox

I am using the latest version of Firefox (14.0.2). But each time I open the Firefox, the software gets hanged and shows "not responding". I have tried to solve it by disabling add-ons, plugins. But none of this helps. When I try to close it forcefully by going to Task Manager, I found that there are 3 process running in the name of Firefox. I don't know is it normal or not. Sometime I am able to use Firefox, but it causes so many troubles like hang pc, disabling graphics driver, lowering pc performance. Please help me on this matter.

I don't get any crash ID or Troubleshooting info from Firefox.

(On Xp) we updated Firefox from ver 14.0.1 and the trouble began.. a warning that changes (add ons?) had altered Windows files and that we should insert Windows CD (2? I think) - but ignored that, rebooted and Firefox had crashed, system otherwise OK so used System Restore. (Start, Programs, Accessories,System Tools, System Restore - to 2 days prior) All now OK with Firefox 13.0.1 which is stable. Set updates in Firefox, Tools, Options,Update to "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install." Have done with other home 'puters on Win7 as well.

Also there is no 14.0.2 for desktop, only for mobile Firefox for Android.
