I want to save PDFs. Now the default files are in AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/Temporary Internet Files/Content IE5/V6ZGH08N. I have to drill UP through all those to get to where I want to save the item in PDF Files. How can I change the default?

Hi acabuzzy,

Are you saying you just want to change the location of where your files are saved? That's easy. Just go to Tools > Options > General and you'll find options for changing your download folder.

If the change doesn't work and it keeps saving them in the old location, you should look at the article How to fix preferences that won't save.

If Firefox is just opening the files instead of saving them, you should go to Tools > Options > Applications and there you can change the default behavior for each file type.

Hopefully this helps!

Sorry Matt, it didn't work. Was I supposed to do that in Mozilla Firefox? I tried to save a PDF this morning and had to go through all those other files to get to where I wanted to save the PDF.

The file path (AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/Temporary Internet Files/Content IE5/V6ZGH08N) that you posted is the internet cache of the MS Internet Explorer and not a location that Firefox uses although MS plugins like the Windows Media Player will use that location.

Files that are opened in an external program will be saved to the temp folder as specified in the %temp% and %tmp% environment variables.

What makes you think that Firefox is saving PDF file in that folder?

Are you using an extension like IE Tab or IE View to open specific locations with IE?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

A friend suggested that I could change the default location through Firefox as I was trying to change it in Windows with no luck. Sorry to upset you.
