I have been using Firefox for years...all of a sudden I can not get it to start. I have loaded the software twice now and still have same result. When you tell firefox to open or start it just does nothing...does not even show up as a program that is running...any ideas?

Hi,

You can download the latest version here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

Before installing this, see if Mozilla Firefox or Firefox is listed in the OS Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall it from there. Next type %APPDATA% in the run box (Windows key + r on the keyboard) and delete the Mozilla folder if present (this is assuming that you do not have any other Mozilla products like Thunderbird installed). Likewise type %programfiles% and delete the Mozilla Firefox folder (this is assuming that you previously installed Firefox in the default location). Next try to install the newly downloaded Firefox.

Please also see this for backing up your information. Usually you would want to copy at least the places.sqlite file which contains the history and favorites info.

This solution did not work for me. I have had the same problem with FF 7.0 (although FF 7.0 said it crashed and created a crash report, while 8.0 does not), so I re-installed FF 6.

I am on Windows XP, Swiss (German) internationalization, but English Windows.

No error messages are display, it just quietly does nothing.
