The files signons2.txt and signons3.txt are from older Firefox 2.0 and 3.0 versions. If that lost passwords aren't that old and you haven't changed the master password since that time, then you can try to delete or move the file signons.sqlite to see if that brings back the passwords that you had in Firefox 3.
See "Troubleshooting" in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Password_Manager
Unfortunately it did'n help. ;( I did re-start computer after moving the signons.sqlite to a memory stick. I'll try later today again. (It's 9 am here @ Helsinki, Finland) Thanks anyway!
It will only work if the encryption key stored in key3.db hasn't changed. If you have changed the Master Password since using that signons3.txt file in an older Firefox version then it won't work.
Hi!
I haven't changed the master password. Is there any way to manually upload them in Firefox? (7.0.1) I think that when I had that old (< 5.x.x.) Firefox, I didn't use the master password: would it help if I disable the password?
Any change made by setting or changing a master password will cause a new key3.db to get created and will cause signons files created with the previous key3.db to stop working.
You always need a matching signons and key3.db file.
If Firefox didn't import the passwords stored in signons3.txt after deleting signons.sqlite then that means that the encryption key in key3.db has changed since then.
OK. I have all ID's and pw's on a separate file (not in the laptop), so I'll start all over again.
