When trying to add a new device, on accessing Tools, Options, Sync tab, no Manage Account button nor Add device link appears. I can get codes displayed to be entered on another device but cannot get to a screen at which I can enter the codes.

When accessing the sync tab, I don't see anything like the picture in the help pages which show a Manage Account button and an Add device link. I think I need to access the Add device link to reach a screen at which I can enter codes to set up sync the easy way. I have already got over the problem by logging in and entering my Sync Key but that is more effort and it seems to me that adding new devices does not work as documented. I'm using Firefox 5 on a Win7 PC and a WinXP laptop and using Firefox Home on an iPod Touch. I did not find a way to enter the 3 four-character codes shown on my Win7PC on either of the other devices.

Hi!

So you have an account but it seems that you are not logged in. Please, follow this steps:

- Go to your Sync tab on the Options window. - Press "Set Up Firefox Sync". - Press "Connect" at the bottom half. - Select "I don't have the Device with me" - Now introduce your details, including your Sync Key. And you are ready to go. - If you have lost your Sync Key, select the option at the bottom "I've lost my other device" and follow the instructions.

I hope this information solves your question.

Hi!

It seems that you didn't had the account active in the computer you wanted to add the device to. As the article explains, you need to set up the account first and the follow the steps documented on it.

If you haven't set up the account, you could follow the steps explained in this other article: How do I set up Sync on my computer?

Thanks for trying to help.

On the main computer, per "Part 3: Connect your other computer to your Sync account", there remains no indication of being signed in, no Manage Account button and no Add a Device link when I click on the Sync icon in Options (accessed like this: Firefox menu, Options menu, Options menu item, Sync tab).

The account has, however, been set up and I can sign into it to manage it at https://services.mozilla.com/ and after following the procedure at the "I don't have the device with me" link my iPod Touch and laptop both reported that Firefox Sync had been successfully set up. However, experimenting to see if it is working, adding a new bookmark on the desktop PC does not result in it being replicated in Firefox Home on the iPod Touch after tapping Settings, Refresh (although I am shown as signed in on the iPod Touch).

Am I missing out some step regarding having the account "active" on the desktop PC?

Thank you very much. That solved the problem and Firefox Sync now works for me.

If I was to do this, it would delete all my saved info. I had to reinstall my OS, and so I am not signed in to sync on my laptop, and my ipod is signed out. So there is no way for me to get my sync # from either. I REALLY don't want to loose my info I had backed up. Can't I resign in to my account with out a passcode? At least on my laptop?

Mindy, really short answer: Without the Sync Key you can't access to your sync data.

If you don't have any device connected, unfortunately, you can't get access to your sync key so your only option is to back up whatever you have in your local machine and reset your sync account.

Best.

I also have a very similar problem. I had to reinstall my OS (Win 7) on my computer. My android phone still has all my old firefox bookmarks saved. How can I import them from my phone onto my "new" computer? My phone is currently synced with all my original info...

Hi!

You can recover yous Sync Key from your phone with this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/addon/aboutsynckey/

Install it in your phone so it can display your Sync Key (also know as recovery key).

Once you do that, follow this steps: Set up Sync in your Computer with the Sync Key
