Restored my mac using time machine and I havn't been able to start firefox since. The error message always reads the following: Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible. I tried using the profile manager but that always crashes, I'm wondering where the profiles are stored because they are not being recreated or deleted with install/ uninstall. Any idea how to fix this?

Make sure that the file profiles.ini still links to an existing default profile.

If youre on a Mac with this problem, try:

"/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -profile /tmp/newdir"

This worked for me. As found in [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=581182]

And after several months, I can now use firefox.

do not understand why but every time I try to run this command in Terminal the app crashes and then says that Firefox is running when I don't see it open using Activity Monitor

If you remove an existing profiles.ini file then Firefox will create a new default profile.
