How can I make middle click go to a url?
For years now I've been able to middle click a string into my viewport and the browser would attempt to go there. An example would be mozilla.org.
With Firefox 4 I can only paste in strings that begin with http. An example would be http://mozilla.org
How can I revert the functionality to the way it used to be. It's tremendously annoying to have to carefully empty the location bar and paste it in there and press enter.

Topher,
You may find relief via the following links...
... states similar issues, and the fix suggested is an Add-On, Tab Mix Plus: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-mix-plus/
Helpful, or no?
Nope, the issue doesn't have anything to do with links. I do have and love Tab Mix Plus though.
Oh gotcha... how about typing into the URL location bar -- about:config and customizing anything via Filter for a search of all-things "middle"?
I show 4 of the 9 results are "middlemouse", of which 1 is: middlemouse.contentLoadURL
which (by Default) is set to Value: False in my updated FF.
Just another stab in the dark. :)

That doesn't do the trick either, I've had that set for years. They actually changed the behavior of that setting. I want it back the way it's been for 15 years previous to that.
Still broken in FF6. This is 3 versions in a row this functionality has been broken. :(
