In previous versions of Firefox, pressing F6 on the keyboard, the cursor automatically settled on the address bar and shaded the actual address. In the new version, the 4, does not happen. Why is that?

It focuses the first selectable element. With the new tabs on top the active tab is selectable, you can turn tabs on top off to get the 3.6 behavior (Firefox button > options > uncheck 'tabs on top' or switch to alt + d or ctrl + l for the shortctut.
