Firefox 4 RC1 uses too much memory.
With one tab opened it uses over 400mb memory (and it's increasing). All my addons are up to date and it's the same with them or without them. And sometimes Leak Monitor pops up 10+ dialogs too.

I agree RC1 uses an appalling amount of memory. What costs me 382mb with 3.6.15 uses 1.2Gb in RC1 !! Needless to say I have gone back to 3.6. The shocker is that the suits at Firefox are saying that the RC1 code will be the code they release to the public !
I am getting this too, a couple of days ago I hit over 800,000 kb not including the plugin container after half a day of browsing. FF 3.6 was nowhere this bad.
I am pretty prudent with addons and plugins, in fact I have every plugin disabled except flash and I have significantly pruned my addon collection from thirteen in FF 3.6 to nine in FF 4. Heck I even created a new profile when the FF 4 RC was announced and despite all of that FF 4 is still pretty crazy with memory.
Other than that I am in love with the browser, but feel like my netbook and my parent's older computer are going to get squeezed out by FF 4 increased memory requirements.
You can try Troubleshooting extensions and themes as they are the likely culprit. Firefox 4 is actually very good about managing memory (for example, http://blog.unitedheroes.net/archives/p/4192 ).
I think i've have had it with Firefox after many years of use. Just too slow and uses up far, far too much resource. Have to constantly reboot it... maybe 3 times per hour! Has become a real pain..why do idiots let good things go bad? Do you want us to walk into the open embrace of Google's chrome? FFS get ur act together
