if there are multiple tabs open, and i close FF, it does not warn me. The settings are ok, and i have checked the "warn me when closing multiple tabs"

i have tried the Safe Mode, and that is the same.

however, if i open a second window, when exiting that second window,it asks , but the main window does not...

so weired.

may be a bug of b10.

any helps are appreciated.

This feature has undergone fair amount of changes. You can select "Restore last session" from the History menu to retrieve your tabs. See bug 592822 for more background. (Please do not comment in bug reports. Instead, you can vote to voice your opinion).

Some other bugs that affect this feature: 593421 and 628080

You are seeing the "weired" behavior because Firefox behaves differently when you are closing a window and when you are quitting the application (I know, it is confusing). See comment 28.

There are a few add-ons that you can use if you do not like Firefox's built-in behavior: session-manager and always-ask

now i am getting the concept behind this behavior.

since i have session manager installed, i think i can adapt myself to it.

The prefs for Save & Quit the warning message have been set by default to false in current Firefox 4 beta versions (Bug 592822 - Remove quit warning dialog).

You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle with a double left-click.

Worked perfectly. Thanks.

I obviously don't know all the issues surrounding this intentional change, but what is the point of Panorama if when you shut down Firefox all your open tabs go away, and when you restart FF you end up with just your Home pages? Restoring the history seems to open them in a different window of FF, again defeating Panorama.

Actually, you don't need to bloat your Firefox with another add-on to have this function. Just go to about:config and change the browser.warnOnQuit preference to true. (Confirmed to work in Firefox 4.0 Beta 10.)
