My pc tells me Firefox is still running - but I can't see it running. I have to shut down my pc and start re-boot WinXP

I thought I had Firefox running while I was doing something else on the internet. A message came up to say Firefox is still running so I should shut Firefox down (which I couldn't do because I couldn't see it running and it also said if that didn't work to re-boot the pc.

I am not certain what causes this but you merely need to find and stop the process firefox.exe you can do that in XP by using key combination Ctrl+Alt+Tab [ or right click your task bar] to get task manager
