On the menu bar go to Tools|Options|Security.

Put a checkmark in the block next to "Remember passwords for sites. Click the <OK> button at the bottom of the panel.

Now the first time you go to a site where you have to log in, enter your username and password as normal. When you click the button to log in, FF will ask, at the top of the window, if you want to save your login information. Click "Remember" and it's saved.

The next time you go to that site FF will automatically insert the data.

You will notice another box just below the one you checked in "Security." This will allow you to set a master password to keep your saved passwords from being accessed by other users. You just check the box and enter in your master password.
