I am having a problem with Firefox 3.6.6. This is a fresh install on Windows 7 64 bit, first thing I did is install Firefox, but I can't even open it without it crashing. As soon as i click the open button it takes a few seconds and before I can even see the Firefox browser itself, a crash report pops open.

This is what the Crash report details say:

This report also contains technical information about the state of the application when it crashed.

I cannot open the about:crashes in firefox due to the fact that I cannot open it. Also, I have tried to downgrade to an earlier version of Firefox and they do the same exact thing.

Crash troubleshooting

Add-ons

One of your add-ons might be the culprit. Try running Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode with all add-ons disabled. If that solves the problem, see Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and possibly Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems

Are your plugins updated? Check this by going to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/

Are you using the newest version of Firefox?

It is important you use the latest version of Firefox because it includes stability and security updates. The latest version of Firefox can always be downloaded from http://www.getfirefox.com. You can check if you are using the latest version of Firefox by going to Help | About Mozilla Firefox. If you are not, see Update Firefox to the latest release

Malware

Different types of Malware can cause Firefox to crash. For more information, please see Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware

I cannot run in safe mode either, same thing happens. I'm running the latest editions of everything. And there shouldn't be any addons as this is a fresh install of windows and firefox.

I have the same problem but on a Windows 7 32 bit system. I am almost certain FF is incompatible with the latest adobe flash player (10.1.53.64). Uninstall adobe flash player via the windows 7 control panel (uninstall programs) and I am sure you will see that FF no longer crashes. But then you will not be able to display streaming video in FF.

Problem is that adobe made a huge number of updates in the last release of the flash player. FF probably hasn't caught up yet with all those updates.
