I use Thunderbird and like to click on links from there, would like to have them open in the same window instead of a new window all the time.

Operating system

Window 7 Premium Home Edition (64-Bit)

To open a link in a new window Right click the link and select Open link in new tab

Hope it helps

You got it backwards - we DO NOT want to open a new window - we want the new link to open in the same window so that when you want to GO BACK you don't have to leave and go back to a window already open and then you'd have to close the one you just left, I hope this isn't TOO confusing

enter "about:config" into the adressbar of the browser, confirm the ifo message & serach for a preference called "browser.link.open_newwindow"; double-click on it and set it to "1" if you want links to open in the current tab. the default setting is "3" , which opens them in a new tab but in the same window as the current page.

You can override that behavior only for external links via the browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external pref by changing the default value from -1 to 1.
The meanings of the values are the same as for browser.link.open_newwindow and are only used if the override.external pref doesn't have the default value.
