Over the last few months my PC has been randomly restarting. Running fine, then everything freezes for about a second or two, then just black and reboot, no blue screen or anything. The most recent time, after rebooting me, i now get a message about firefox being corrupt when I try to launch it. It made me wonder if the two things were related. Any one else have a similar experience?

Please consider turning on send info to Mozilla from with in Firefox before posting a question. This helps us help you. I have no info from your system that would help see things that cause issues. What version Firefox, list- add-ons, have no info, expand on issue ?

  • Repair System Registry and Files

Find the Dos Prompt Right or Powershell Click and Run as Administrator then : Copy/Paste to Dos Window : DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth then hit Enter. Reboot when completed. Note : DISM goes up to Microsoft for new ones.

Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files.

I didn't include the extra info on firefox since it was corrupted and I didn't know off hand. I reinstalled, so the version may be off. If firefox was the issue and a clean reinstall was the solution, I'll know soon. If firefox isn't the issue, guess I'll keep having the most annoying issue ever.

I've updated the post with firefox info anyways, doing as you said. Starting the disk cleanup now. thanks.

First, let's make sure your system is clean.

You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

Ran the cleaners. The only things that popped up were tracking cookies. I'm not even sure if Firefox is causing the issue, so I appreciate your help. I was just trying to try all possibilities.

Without specifics, all we can do is shoot in the dark.

I doubt very much Firefox was the cause but may have helped contribute to the results if it was unstable. Can also go here for help.
