I enabled two-step authentication in Google, then realized it wouldn't solve a specific problem, so turned it off. Right after that a window kept on popping up asking me to sign into my gmail account. However, the Next button wouldn't work and neither would any of the other blue links. What I saw in the bar for the box told me to enter credentials for my email into imap.gmail.com. But that apparently isn't a working url. I can see incoming mail inside of Google, but can't download it to my computer. I'm using Firefox 45.8.0 and can't update any further.

In addition I attempted to find IMAP in my Google settings but there was no such designation. Finally, I don't remember how any more, a window asked me to verify my phone number and then said it would text a number for that verification. However, I don't receive texts, so could not verify. Now what? So now it appears that it's a Google problem, not a Mozilla one. Should I just close my gmail account?

I deleted the gmail account and now I'm getting the same message for my main email address from Google.
