Hi, Yesterday I updated large parts of my debian system from jessie to stretch. Since then, firefox does not start, no matter if I try the debian package or download it from mozilla.org.

Here is the terminal output: [0] 12:16 % firefox

(firefox:5495): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_ref: assertion 'object->ref_count > 0' failed ExceptionHandler::GenerateDump cloned child 5513 ExceptionHandler::SendContinueSignalToChild sent continue signal to child ExceptionHandler::WaitForContinueSignal waiting for continue signal... zsh: segmentation fault firefox

I also have a Crash ID: bp-3c87dd23-cbf2-4501-b7d5-abccd2161230

And here is /var/log/apt/history.log, showing what I changed before the crashes started: https://gist.githubusercontent.com/p-blomberg/1262232fdabb4686ad7e134c575b808a/raw/3cfb7c85d7c01a6ed45d2ebbfdddfc10e07fb2e5/gistfile1.txt

Chosen solution

I managed to solve the problem by making sure my dist-upgrade to Stretch was complete. Thanks, Seburo.

Hi

Thanks for your question and for providing the crash ID.

I have had a look at it and it appears that the Debian Stretch build you are using is missing some dependencies that are required to run Firefox.

I strongly recommend that you feed this back to the Debian team. They may find the information at https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/3c87dd23-cbf2-4501-b7d5-abccd2161230 useful.
