zonealarm updated to 14.1.048 firefox now will not completly load stops at various levels (watching memory use) what does load takes several minutes. happened on two toshiba satellite laptops running vista. first time thought was virus or other attack changed passwords did deep scan with zonealarm, malwarebytes and hijackthis. have tryed clean instals of both programs.

As a test, disable ZoneAlarm.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

after several minutes of chugging firefox started in safe mode after several more minutes finaly got latest update installed. opened dogpile and trouble shooting info, just switching between tabs takes several seconds to do, gets a not responding notice, calling any function gets same results much chugging and not responding notices. even moving window causes same reaction.

without being in safe mode firefox would sometimes start but ran same way

have tried starting firefox without zonealarm running no change

thank you very much for helping me, zonealarm support tryed to help me but nothing changed the hanging

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open the Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

On the left side of the page, select Appearance. Then select Default. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Restart Firefox. Are there any problems?

Did you check the Firefox settings in ZoneAlarm?

It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

under Add-ons Manager the only apperance is default, was disabled because in safe mode. turned off :Use Hardware Acceleration

Some of your crash reports weren’t sent to the Mozilla Servers.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

Was chugging so bad this was only way to get them. Sorry about slow reply don't have easy access to net. Only had four they are in reverse order, last sent first. Both computers are having trouble with windows updater, the windows update fix it program could not repair, said registry keys corrupt. If I let windows update run takes 100% processor and 80% mem and install stays at zero percent complete. Have to stop process called wuauserv (windows update) to get computer to respond.
