This is on a Mac, and I have no way to do most navigation, except commands like command-q. No way to search the web or enter a web address.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Full Screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

Try to rename (or delete) the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.

I found the solution on my own, after the only way to get to my email was to quit Firefox, and then I couldn't find the Q&A forum.
